This interview is with Joel Drucker, one of the world's top tennis writers.
Joel's work schedule for his various tennis assignments has kept him globe trotting on a regular basis which makes it tough for him to play a tournament.
A solid 4.5 league player, Joel's schedule allowed him to play this year's Pacific Coast Seniors.
We discussed the differences between league and tournament play and why playing tournaments can be such a great learning experience for improvement.

Closing Out a Match with Lynne Rolley
In this interview with Berkeley Tennis Club Head Pro & Tennis Director Lynne Rolley, we discuss the mental mechanics of how to close out that 6-4, 4-2 lead.
One of the most often asked questions I get at http://www.webtennis.net/ is exactly this topic, how can I stop coughing up a solid lead and actually finish off the match.
Lynne, a world class player back in her time and one of the U.S.'s top coaches, gives us some helpful tools for closing out that lead you've worked so hard to earn.

Specific Training for Your Style of Play
Today I interviewed Steve Cornell, a former national 50s singles Indoors winner, who is always one of the top elite players nationally in his age group.
Steve is a pure serve and volleyer, chip and charge player.
I asked Steve if he does any specific off-court training that is customized for his style of play.
And really, they key here is figure you out who you are on the court. What style of play is best suited for your physical and mental strengths and weaknesses?

Welcome to the 2008 Pacific Coast Senior Tennis Championships, a USTA National Tier 2 event
Welcome to the 2008 Pacific Coast Senior Tennis Championships at the Berkeley Tennis Club.
Hi, my name is Brent Abel of http://www.webtennis.net/ , and I'll be hosting this blog that will include daily updates during the tournament.
We have many features planned at this time, one of them being daily pre match and post match video interviews with notable players.
Specific match players will be asked what their strategies for playing their opponent will be and other questions that will hopefully be of interest to players wishing to improve on their own tournament and league play.
Post match interviews will follow up to see how successful their strategies were and what if any changes they made during the course of the match.
Other daily blog features will include instructional tips from me and Berkeley Tennis Club Tennis Director Lynne Rolley based on questions we receive from you and other blog visitors.
Please feel free to submit any questions directly to me at brent@webtennis.net and Lynne and I will do our best to answer them each day. We are planning on producing a new video tip based on your questions.
Please let me know if there are any other daily features you are interested in seeing here at the tournament blog.
Thanks for your interest,
Brent - http://www.webtennis.net/
